Sonamony Gayen is one of the graduates of the Tomorrow’s Foundation Education programme. She lives in Kalighat with her parents and her brother. She is a first generation learner in her family. Sonamony is currently working in Tomorrow’s Foundation as a Project Assistant. She is bright and a quick learner and has developed several professional skills that will help her in her career.
Debasish Das is a farmer from Semiat village of Birbhum district. His family consists of his parents and brother. He earlier used chemical pesticides and fertilisers on his land. After learning about the benefits of Shivansh Farming process, he has applied the same on his land and now growing 13 types of organic vegetables that are sufficient for his family’s consumption. Debasish is also motivating other farmers to apply this Shivansh Kheti process.
Soniya Baniya, 15 years old and a student of Class IX, lives in Chetla with her aunt. Her parents left her when she was a child. Her aunt took her responsibility, along with her own three children. Soniya is very intelligent and has been associated with TF from Class PP. She has been awarded All India 2nd position in Swachhata Hi Sewa poster competition. In an all NGO sports meet, she got prizes in all the events in which she participated. She is very passionate about her studies as well as painting and dreams of becoming a teacher and serve children who come from a background like hers.
Sumit Kumar Shaw is a 14 year old boy with Intellectual Disability, living in Cossipore. One year ago, Sumit could not write his own name, the names of his parents, his address and mobile number. He could not do addition, subtraction and multiplication. But now, with constant guidance and assistance of the Special Educator, he can do all of these activities independently. He can do single digit addition and subtraction and multiplication through verbal prompt.
Shahnasin Jahan is a 11 years old, mental retardation child from Razabazar area in Kolkata. Earlier she was introvert, stubborn, disinterested in learning, not motivated but after she joined the Charaibeti program in 2015 she is now happy to be in school and learn, social, has made friends, interesting/willing to learn.
